Job Description and Duties

YOU MUST BE A CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEE WITH LATERAL TRANSFER ELIGIBILITY OR HAVE TAKEN AND PASSED AN EXAMINATION FOR THIS CLASSIFICATION.Under the direct supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accountant Trainee performs the more technical Institution Support and Inmate Trust accounting functions. The Accountant Trainee is responsible for analyzing computer generated reports including distribution and storage of data processed and used internally for control purposes, keeping and reviewing manual/computer financial records. This position may also be called upon to serve in an acting position in the absence of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor). College transcripts must be submitted with application by the final filing date. This advertisement will be used for any future vacancies. Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply.
